The Mankato community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Gina Zurbey, who passed away far too soon on September 3, 2025, at just 40 years old. Her death has left a deep void in the lives of her loved ones and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Known for her vibrant energy, infectious smile, and compassionate heart, Gina was a woman who brought warmth to every room she entered.
Gina was a beloved wife to Nick, a cherished daughter, a caring sister, and the fun, loving aunt every child dreamed of having. Her kindness radiated outward, leaving a lasting impression on nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues alike. Despite her battle with melanoma, Gina continued to show grace, courage, and love until the very end. She fought silently, never allowing her illness to define her spirit or steal her joy.
Honoring Her Life with Love and Purpose
A Celebration of Life in Gina’s honor will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Venue in Mankato. Family, friends, and members of the community are invited to come together to share stories, shed tears, and celebrate a life that, though tragically short, was incredibly full of love and light.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Melanoma Research Foundation, in memory of Gina’s courageous fight. This meaningful gesture not only honors her journey but supports ongoing research that may help others facing the same diagnosis.
“She never stopped smiling,” said a close friend. “Even on the hardest days, Gina found a way to comfort others before herself. She was a rare soul.”
